How to open .hlp file in windows 7

In addition to what Andre has suggested with the KB article, if you still need assistance please post in the Microsoft Answers Forum for Windows 7.

Use the link below for the correct category to post in:. Thanks for your reply, but in my question i have already told with a reason that i do not want to use patch file distributed by microsoft to run. This link you have referred is related to that path.

If you want to use hlp files, install the update. If you don't want to install the update you can't use hlp files. First of all i want to clearify that this is an official Windows Patch not Update.

Also it seems that it will not be a part of Windows 7 service pack in future. Windows 7 has a default behavior that it do not allow.

If i use the patch it means i am allowing all. Which is against the default behavior of actually installed Windows 7. Thats why I want some other solution for running. So it is neither a patch nor an update; it is a package. Ok, its a package. But can i know whether Microsoft will include this feature in upcoming service pack of Windows 7 or not? Ziegler 0. Hlp files are obsolete starting with Vista. The Help program seems to be the same for bit and bit editions of Windows 7.

The application is only available for Windows 7; it cannot be installed on newer versions of the Windows operating system, e. Windows 8. Users who run these versions may want to check out third-party programs like Help Explorer Viewer or WinHlp32 for Windows 10 to add the functionality to these versions of Windows. A typical MS half-step, as I expect to find the service still installed and if not set to Automatic start-up type it will start to let you know you need to re-install if you accidentally brush the F1 key.

The important step here is yet another genuine validation gets implemented. I am almost starting to believe I AM guilty… until proven innocent. Within the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, the bit editiion, the bit edition, or both, are individually selected for download.

Download the files most appropriate for you. Neither of those obviously corresponds to a bit system and there is no information to tell me which I should use. The x64 seems like it ought to be the bit, but why the heck would I want to download something called x86 for my system? What am I missing here?
