Manual 828fi

Like brand new now good for another 40 years, lol. Unbelievable FM reception, too. Got it for a steal many issues since completely resolved. Reviewed Mar 22nd, by stereoman.

A very handsome and powerfull unit. Super build quality all round and am very proud of the one I own. Pity they dont make them anymore but to all vintage Hi Fi fans if you get one in good working condition snap it up. Should I replace the caps? If yes, will it be necessary to re-calibrate the board afterwards? Or with more in-spec uF value caps will the tuner board work even better?

I wonder, by putting the the Bass and Treble at the mid-point, would that qualify as a Tone-cancel or Tone-neutral sound?

I bought one of these back in the day and still own it She has not been used in 15 years but plugged her in the other night and she lit up just fine. I didn't have any speakers to connect to her so not sure if the sound is there or not but have to believe it is. The FM Antenna mount broke at the pivot ball but other than that it is in good condition I am in Colorado. How much are you asking for the sx receiver. I use to have one and want to go back to something that will last. I do not want any more digital units.

Would it be possible for you to test it out with some kind of speakers to see if it has out put. I am a novice at this vintage equipment because in the early 70's I had the cheapest Panasonic equipment imaginable and in the 80's I had digital hk components and little knowledge. What I'd like to know is what are my parameters for buying speakers to match my receiver?

Where can I find this info? Just acquired an myself. Sounded pretty rough when I picked it up but a quick cleaning and a bit of deoxit have it singing sweet. Running a pair of Polk Monitor 7's and they sound smooth. View the model in 3D. With the Stereo wattage rating at watts total, it should easily handle 4 channels at watts per channel So evidently this Receiver has the ability to operate 4 channels at once or both sets of stereo speakers Can anyone elaborate on this discrepancy on this particular Technics receiver SA and why the two different protocols, concerning the Speaker switches, were implemented on the very same model??!

I think somebody goofed. And I would like to get it corrected if possible Thanks for your assist. First, the W is the maximum power it can consume from the wall, not output power. They have different safety standards or it's also possible they realized there was a high failure rate and took the ability to turn on multiple speakers at once, away. It has detection circuits to sense the load and lowers the supply voltage for the 4 ohm load M or MC models. The K or no suffix model is the one that cannot drive 4 ohms as it would appear.

The particular transistors used in this model are being pushed quite hard asking them to produce W in the first place. Transistors won't limit the power capability, they usually just fail in spectacular fashion when their ratings are exceeded.

As far as being able to turn speakers off, that's in case you just want to use headphones This website is not affiliated with or sponsored by Technics.
